BRITISH MUSIC SOCIETY.

VOCAL GROUP. The vocal group of the British Musical Society, held a Schubert evening, last week* those contributing to tbe programme being Miss L. McDonald, “My Abode,” and “Night and Dreams”; Miss D. Junker, “Litany’’ and two of Shakespeare’s songs, “To a Beautiful Lady” and “Full Fatliom Five” : Mrs N. Pearce, “To Music”; M iss I. Sutherland, “The Linden Tree” ; and Mr R. Abraham, “Who is Sylvia?” The guest of the evening was Mrs J. Fisher, who played as violin solos a “Moment Musicale” and a paraphrase of the song “The Wild Rose,” both by Schubert. The accompanists were Mrs I. Rickard and ’Miss E. Eyre. Following the formal programme members present took part ill the part singing of “In Bethlehem,” “Whence All This Goodly Fragrance” and “God So Loved the World.” Members felt this was a branch of their singing that could well be extended, and it is intended to have several good part songs ready for practising next month. Supper arrangements were capably handled by Miss D. Junker and Mcsdames Purdie and IT. Pierard.
