(From Our Own Correspondent.) APITI, April 29. The most outstanding activity of the past week vvae the annual meeting , of the local branch of the Farmers’ Union. There was a good attendance, including several membein of the Young Farmers’ Club, who had been invited. The report and balancesheet showed a sound position, and a year of worth-while activity. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr J. I>. Kilgour (rc-clcctcd); vice-presidents, Messrs H. C. Mclntyre, IT. Jensen, L. Martin and \V. Davis; secretary, Mr 11. W. Vi'.es (rc-elcct-ci.l) with executive officers and Mr S. llart as committee; hon. auditor, Mr G. A. McLeod; delegates to interprovincial conference, Messrs J. D. Kilgour and If. Jensen. An interesting addrem on topics of close interest to the. farmers was given by Mr D. Gordon (provincial president, who also apoolgised for the absence of Mr J. R. L. Hammond. The Young Farmers’ Club held their monthly meeting with an attendance of 30. Mr L. Earl addressed the club and he congratulated the tug-of-war team on their recent performance and for generously donating the prize-money for patriotic purposes. The! speaker dealt with comparative costs of cultivation with tractor, as against three ami six-horse teams. The Presbyterian. Church Guild met Inst week when there was a good attendance. Sewing was commenced for the annual bazaar. (Miss Paterson will take church duties for this month, followed by Mrs Bcnscnian in May. The local Plunket Society branch arranged an afternoon tea paiivy at the home of Mrs R. Hooper to entertain Mrs H. K. Osborne. Musical items and competitions were enjoyed. Airs Osborne was the recipient of it small gift and beautiful autumn posy from the mothers and committee of the branch. . . The Anzac memorial service was conducted by Revs. .J. L. Ilodson and J. C. Ashworth. Mr S. F. Morris sang the ‘‘Requiem,” with Mrs Morris at the piano. I lie Feilding Pijte Band was in attendance.. The quarterly Methodist circuit meeting was held in Apiti at the Parsonage. Rev. \Y. T. Blight. 8.A., 8.D.. the newly inducted minister of the Feilding circuit, presided. There was a good representative gathering from all over the Apiti circuit. Tea was served by the ladies of the guild. ■V service in the Presbyterian Church, conducted by Rev. J. L.
