TABLE TENNIS.

The Takaro Table Tennis Club held a suecessnil opening night this week, when many keen players took part in a handicap tournament. Mr J. Walter, whu won the Taranaki open singles championship in 1938, was the winner of the tournament, and Miss Jj. Hughes, New Zealand women’s singles champion for 1938 39, was runner-up. Thu handicapping was in the capable hands of Mr L. Inkpen. who lias been elected official hand!capper for the club. The standard ol play for so early in the season was high and there is every indication that there will be some keen competition in club and inter-club games when the season is in full swing.
