McLean, Flock 345 one of the early Romney flocks founded on almost pure “Parorangi” (E. Short) blood. Since its foundation the Matapuna flock has been carefully line bred, incorporating by the careful use of outside sires the most popular strains of Romney blood such as those founded by the famous rams Premier and Brazil and other families which have proved successful m the Penrose, Leedstown, Parorangi and Waiorongomai flocks The flock has been heavily culled annually, and for the last twelve yeais all ewes retained for breeding purposes have been inspected and tattooed by the Society.
