HOCKEY ASSOCIATION.
EXECUTIVE MEETS. At an executive meeting of the Manawatu Hockey Association, on. Wednesday evening, Mr L. Martin presided. Notification of the appointment of delegates was received from the iollowing : —Woodville Club, Mr R. K. Beale; Umpires’ Association, Mr D. Wilton; Massey College Club, Mr Rose; Phoenix Club, Mr R. H. Erwin. The City Council notified the association that the use of three grounds for hockey at Hokowhitu had been granted, the terms being the same as last year’s. The St. Paul’s Club advised that, owing to a decrease in membership, it would be unable to field a women’s team this year. Mr Wilton was appointed manager for the 11-a-side tournament. It was decided to again apply for a lifting of the embargo on the importation of hockey sticks, it being stated by Mr W. H. Wilson that if extra petrol coupons could be conceded to country Rugby teams to permit of extra travelling, hockey sticks should be made available for schoolboys in larger numbers than they were at present. A recommendation from the annual meeting to appoint a sole selector was endorsed, but the making of the appointment was left until the next mceting. A motion that New Zealand Shield and Nordon Cup matches he postponed for the duration of the war was carried. It was decided to notify all clubs that the registrations of all players must he handed in by May 3, but all insur- ! ance fees must be paid before players take the field to-morrow. Two playing Saturdays have been allotted for the regrading of players. | Mr E. H. Smith was appointed delegate to the Palmerston North RccruitI ing Committee.
