RELENTLESS PRESSURE

ALLIED FORCES IN NORWAY SAVAGE GERMAN AIR ATTACKS (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph. -Copyright.) Received April 26, 9 a.m. LONDON, April 25. Vigorous and relentless Allied pressure continues on the Norwegian battlefronts. Further reinforcements are arriving and pressing on to join the advance forces engaging the Germans. In spite of snow from two to fifteen feet deep, fierce^ fighting is raging in the vicinity of Steinkjer (between Namsos ami Trondheim) and the encounters, have left the Allies in command of strategic positions. German ’planes are savagely bombing the Allied lines.

CIVILIAN CASUALTIES. A report from Stockholm says British bombers attacked the Agdenes fortress, at the mouth of Trondheim Fiord, and met with fire from the fortress and from three destroyers. The Norwegian News Agency says the Germans are ruthlessly bombing civilians in Western Norway, dropping incendiary bombs and heavy bombs on fishing ports, and machine-gunning streets, cottages, and boats at least sixty persons have been killed Earlier reports stated: A British "War Office communique issued after the counter-attack by the Germans previously reported, states: “British troops succeeded in re-establishing their situation at' Trondheim after sharp fighting. The German counterattacks comprised a considerable number of troops landed from ships in Trondheim Eiord. There is nothing to report about operations elsewhere.” The Rome radio states that MajorGeneral Dewiart, commander of the British forces in Norway, was slightly wounded in the fighting in the Trondheim district.
