Lambs at ’the Stortford Lodge sale realised up to Is fid a head more titan at last week’s, and wethers met with a stronger demand. Woolly ewe lambs, in good order, made 22s 9d, and early-shorn and billable 22=. Woolly wether lambs in forward order. from 17s to 17s 8d; medium-grown and good handling, 16s. Heifers, well finished, £9 10s to £IC 17s 6d. CLEARING SALE. Dalgety and Cov., Ltd., report having held a highly successful clearing sale of dairy stock, houses, pigs and implements at Opiki on Tuesday on account of Mr S. R. Young, who has sold his property. There was a large and representative attendance of buyers from the Wanganui, Wellington, and surrounding districts, and a great deal of interest was taken. This dairy herd of Friesian cows wits an onlstandingly bred line of high-producing cows which were brought forward in splendid condition, the majority lo calve July and August. Mr Young’s herd was widely known throughout the district; and competition was keen from the outset, prices for the sound cows ranging from £9 to £ls, 61 sound cows averaging the good price of £lO 2s per head. The rising two-year heifers to calve in the spring were also an outstandingly bred line, well-grown and in splendid condition, these also commanding great attention, the line of 15 averaging £lO • 10s 6<l per head. Weanor Friesian heifers also sold very well at prices ranging from £3 10s to £4 10s. The horses and pigs were a useful lot and sold under keen competition. The implements wore in first-class order and made particularly good prices.
