AUCKLAND CHOICE. ARCHDEACON SIMIvIN. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 24. The new Bishop of Auckland as the successor to Archbishop Avenll is Archdeacon William John Simkm. Archdeacon of Manukau, secretary the, Auckland Diocese and provincial secretary of General Synod. The cial documents were signed this morninn- before Archdeacon Mac Murray, who was acting as commissary • or Archbishop West-Watson. The nomination was carried out by ballot at a special session of the Auckland Synod on April 10 under the presidency of Bishop Fitchett of Dunedin. All the bishops of the Province and all the standing committees subsequentlv approved the nomination. Arrangements for the consecration will be completed as soon; as possible. It is not known whether it will be in May or June. It must be on a Sunday or a saint’s (lav and arranged so that all the bishops'of the province can attend. , . , Archdeacon NlacMurray, who is agoa So announced to-day that owing to the state of his health he was resigning as Archbishop’s Commissary.
