BOWLING. A two-bowl tournament of throe rounds (ten heads)., was played by, members of the Woodville. Bowling Club on Saturday afternoon to mark the oflieial closing of the greens’ for the 1939-40 season. Twentyfour 'bowlers participated and Aim s rink gained the honours with three wins and no losses. The following teams took part:— Rowbotham, McKinlav, Gothard (skip) ; Sullivan, R. IT. Morgan, Boyd (skip) ; Kcay, J. Morgan, Hares (skip) ; Kenyon, Stevenson, Curry (skip) ; Hammond, Nelson, Horne (skip) ; O'Connor, Jamieson, Aim (skip); Olfwocd, J. Grinlinton, Smith (skip); Rotter, ilawkcs, Bly (skip). Results (skips’ names only) : —First round : Curry beat Gothard, 12—6; Boyd beat Horne, 13 —3; Aim beat Hares, 12 —8; Bly beat Smith, 11—3. Second found: Aim beat Gothard, 11 —5; Bly beat Boyd, 17 —4; Smith beat llares, 11—7; Horne beat Curry, 11—9. Third round: Aim beat Blv. 11 —10: Smith beat Boyd, 12—11; Gothard beat Horne, 10—9; Curry beat Hares, 15 —11. Details of wins and losses are:— Aim, 3 wins. no losses: Smith, 2—l; Curry, 2—l: Blv, 2—l: Col hard, I—2; Horne, l-*-2; Boyd, I—2:1 —2: Hares, o—3.0 —3. The finals of the club's Junior Cup and Bolton Cup competitions were also played. It, Bibby, a first-year player, being successful in both. Lovell was runner-up for the Junior Cup and Stanborough runner-up for the Bolton Cup. At the. close of play, the president (Mr C. Smith) congratulated Bibby on bis outstanding performance in the club competitions and stated that the past season as a whole had been a most successful one. Thanks were due to the executive and green committees for their co-operation and assistance, throughout the year and to the ladies who had attended to afternoon and morning tea arrangements. In the evening a euchre party for bowlers and their wives was held in the pavilioniand proved very enjoyable. Mesdamos J. Sullivan and \V. Blv tied in the ladies’ section, the former winning the play-off. The men’s prize went to Mr G. Lovell.
