PUBLIC SERVICE HOURS.
WINTER SCHEDULE. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 23. As from May 1 working hours in the Civil Service will be from 8.25 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., and 1.30 p.m. to 5 p.m., replacing the present schedule of 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4.35. It is explained in official quarters that the new hours will be of particular advantage to working conditions in the South Island, and it felt also that they will be more acceptable to the business and commercial community generally.
