YUGOSLAV PLOT

OVERTHROW OF STATE. SENSATIONAL REPORT. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, April 19. The Associated Press Belgrade correspondent says it is reliably reported that a plot to overthrow the Government coinciding with the entry of German troops was revealed shortly after the arrest of M. Stoyadinovitch, the former Premier. The ex-Premier’s brother, who is a former Parliamentarian and a former director of the newspaper Vrome, was also arrested M. Stoyadinovitch is being interned in the Servian town of Rudnik. BELGIUM DETERMINED. WILL AGAIN DEFEND HONOUR. BRUSSELS, April 19. The Premier (M. Pierlot) has revealed that several thousand foreigners have been'arrested and interned. The round-up has necessitated the construction of a new concentration camp. “Belgium is determined to defend her territory. Invasion would not be profitable, because the country is defended by tlie strongest lines in its history,” he declared. The police at Eupen (which was ceded to Belgium after the Great AVar) discovered in a search of a German resident’s house eighteen cases ready for export. The Dutch newspaper Alctropolc points out that the 60,000 members of the Belgian Communist Party include six thousand foreigners. ITALIAN ~ PRIDE. RESENTFUL ATTITUDE. LONDON, April 19. The first reference in the Italian Press to the speech by* Mr R. Cross (Minister of Economic Warfare), who sought a clarification of Italy’s position, is terse and hostile. Reuter says the tone suggests direct incitement to enter the war. The Popolo d’ltalia says Signor Mussolini may choose the day and the manner of intervention. Neutrality was unsatisfactory to the people if it forced Italy to accept the role of a “big little Power.” It adds that Italian ships are forbidden to sail between the Italian ports of Alas6awa and Trieste without encountering the vexatious blockade, insulting Italian pride and independence.
