COMEDY OF ERRORS.

STORY OF A AIISSING VASE. AKAROA’S DISAPPOINTMENT. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHUIICFI, April 20. The Sevres vase presented to Akaroa as a Centennial gift by Al. Lebrun (President of France) has not arrived. When a unit of the French Nayv visited Akaroa a few weeks ago it was thought the vase was on board, and an amusing 6tory of the misunderstanding was revealed to-day. A ease was opened in front of the Alayor, the captain of the French ship, and other dignitaries-. It was a dramatic moment! They forced the case covered with official seals, and eagerly plunged into the packing. What they found was a blue uniform sent out to the French Consul (Al. Pouquet)! It was the wrong ease, and Akaroa is still without its vase.
