REICH MUST BE DEFEATED. (British Official Wireless.) The Secretary of War (Mr Oliver Stanley), in a broadcast speech said: “During the last few days a new war front has presented itself to the Allies in Norway, wantonly invaded by German troops as part of the settled I ian of aggression against peaceful neutral countries. Already our Navy and Air Force have proved themselves more than equal to the occasion. Now our Army is ready to do its part. ‘‘This is going to he a stern and bitter war. We cannot afford to lose it. We have only to consider the tragic late of Poland and other countries to realise what would become of us if wo did. Even less can we afford to make a, draw of.it and be compelled to fight another in a few years’ time. Civilisation could not survive either a German victory or a third world war.”
