OBITUARY.
DUKE OF RUTLAND. Received April 22, 10.30 a.m. LONDON, April 21. The death has occurred of the Duke of Rutland, a brother of Lady Diana Duff-Cooper. He is succeeded by his eldest son, the Marquis of Granby, who is at present a second-lieutenant in the Granedier Guards. John Henry Montagu Manners, Duke of Rutland, who held several other I files, was the eldest son of the eighth duke and was horn in 1886. He was honorary attache at the Embassy at Rome in 1909 and formerly a captain in the 4th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment. Ho owned 18,000 acres in Leicestershire and Derbyshire and a valuable picture gallery in Bclvoir Castle.

,Tho death has occurred of Dr Alfred Cort Haddon, F.H.S., M.A., D Sc., a noted antiquarian, aged 85 He had been professor of zoology at Dublin University, lecturer in ethnology tit Cambridge University, and had held other academic positions.
