EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD.” APRIL 22, 1910. In the House of Commons Mr Lloyd George stated that there was a deficit in the Government’s finances of £26,000,000, but when arrears were collected there would bo a surplus of over £2.000.000. Germany- had offered to sell the old cruiser Blueher to Turkey for £2,000.000. It was stated that the reason Lord Kitchener had not visited Canada in Die course of his Empire tour was that he “did not find himself -wholly in agreement with the Canadian Government.” 'The Palmerston North Hospital Board was considering the establishment of an old people’s home.
