SWISS TO FIGHT.

IF INTEGRITY VIOLATED. Received April 19, 11 a.m. BASLE, April 18. The Federal Council has issued a decree calling up an additional 55,000 territorials this year. The Army Command and the Federal Council have jointly issued a communique stating: “War mobilisation would be ordered if Switzerland were attacked. The militia would be ordered to act immediately and firmly against air attack from parachute troops and saboteurs. We will attack energetically everywhere.” The watch for suspected persons lias been intensified and any reports casting doubts on the resolution to resist the invader will be regarded as enemy propaganda. Swiss political circles arc closely watching the Italian attitude and foresee the danger that a belligerent Italy would no longer retain interest in a peaceful Switzerland as a buffer State. In London 70 members of the House of Commons at a secret meeting discussed the dangers of enemy aliens in Britain and of activities detrimental to the nation’s war effort. It is understood the general view was that more stringent control should be exercised over the activities of individuals in some organisations.
