RAIDERS OFF BRITAIN.

SOUND OF GUNFIRE. LONDON, April 18. Tlie sound of gunfire and dull explosions brought people rushing to the seafront in several south-east coast towns late last night. Ht is believed Nazi ’planes attacked shipping. Searchlights swept the sea and momentarily lit up a ’plane. The sound of aircraft engines and heavy firing continued for two hours. Bombers also unsuccessfully attempted to attack a convoy north-east of Scotland.
