(From Our Own Correspondent.) SHANNON, April 18. At the Women’s Institute meeting. on Wednesday afternoon Mrs J. A. Easton welcomed the president (Mrs Middleton) and t\v,o members of the Foxton Institute. Mrs Churchill, of Kongo!ea, was also present to give a talk on forming a drama circle. Mrs Churchill wrs most convincing and interesting and found 14. very enthusiastic members to form a circle. Mrs D. Fitzgerald was introduced as a newcomei to the institute with experience in play producing, and she consented to act as producer. The “pcst-bag” produced only a few suggestions, on “how- to improve our institute meetings,” all dealing with the desire for more attention to the chair. The following nominations have been received for the School Committee: Mcsd antes C. Stern, W. Easton, V. M. Lucinskv, M. Roberts, and Messrs D. Gyde, A. F. Birss, E. T .Moody, I. Pene. P. Hateley, R. R. Lind, J. J. Ilemessey, S. W. Barber, O. F. Goodwin, J. I). Campbell and L. Sherwood. At the Borough Council meeting on Tuesday evening, the town clerk reported that a revaluation of the borough had been completed and the new valuation list was to hand. The total valuation showed a decrease of £23,000 against last year. In caso an Assessment Court is required, Mr T. C. Thwaites was appointed the council’s assessor. The Prime Minister acknowledged the council’s sympathy in the death of Ilf. I-lon. M. J. Savage. The meeting resolved to forward to the Shannon Women’s Institute a letter of appreciation for its cooperation and assistance during the Centennial celebrations. A request for the formation of a footpath was received from tenants, of the State houses. The matter wao' left in the hands of the-works committee. The works committee reported that the formation work-in Stafford Street, was in progress and scaling should be - commenced within a fortnight. The traffic inspector reported that in March three drivers were tested for licenses, and two were considered satisfactorv. No accidents had been reported and no offence, notices issued despite the heavy traffic during Easter.
