FAREWELL PARTY.
The friends of Miss Colleen Kneebone, who leaves shortly to take up a position in Suva, gathered last evening to bid her farewell. The time was spent in dancing, Mr B, Harvey being M.C. A ring was presented to Miss Kneebo.ne as a niark of esteem from her friends. Among those present were: —Misses E. Bennett, J. Death, •T. Patterson, J. Clark, M. Bolton, B. Olsen, A. Roulston,- M. Bonnetti. L. Carruthers, P. Kneebono, P. McNeill, F. Lemlierg, P. Rowntree, G. Downie, J. Abraham, M. Abraham, J. Davidson, M. Duggan, J. Russell, J. Madden C. Donovan. H. Belfit, A. Hayes, P. Thompson and H. Bonn.
Pads for polishing shoes lose their softness after a time. If pieces of.velvet ' from discarded jackets have been kept, it is easy to recover the pad. Bits of velvet are also useful for polishing furniture. Velvet is too useful to he thrown away.
