Heavy German bombing silencerl the Norwegian batteries at Heggc (to the north of Oslo). The Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reports the German capture of Storlien (east of Trondheim on' the Swedish frontier). German ski patrols carrying automatic rifles are operating as scouts ahead of the main body of troops enabling swoops against lightly-garrisoned poets. Reports arriving from the Swedish frontier suggest that the Germans, after four days’ terrific effort, have broken the Norwegian grip of the heights overlooking Narvik and llomLaks Fiord. _ ■■ It is also reported that the B.E.i 1 . and small units of Norwegians arc making valiant efforts to rout the strong German forces in a series ot battles along the 20-mile stretch from Narvik to the Swedish frontier. Small parties of Norwegians and Germans, some of whom were wounded, have crossed the frontier. It is reported that Father Martindale, the noted Catholic lecturer, is safe in the German Jesuit College at Copenhagen. He is unable to communicate with the outside world.
