WATERFRONT WORK
COMMISSION SITS. CASE FOR EMPLOYERS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 17. The "Waterfront Control Commission set up by the Government to deal with problems arising on tiio waterfronts, and rates of pay and conditions for waterside workers, commenced its sitting to-day, Captain R. E. Price presiding. The other members are Messrs H. A. McLeod (master stevedore, Wellington) and James Roberts (secretary ot the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Union). It is understood that Mr W. H. G. Bennett (secretary of the New Zealand Waterside Employers’ Association) is presenting the case to-day on behalf of the employers. The proceedings, which are not open to the Press, arc expected to occupy some days.
