JUDGES REAPPOINTED. BACONEIt COMPETITION. The committee of the Manawatu and West Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association met to-day, Mr C. E. Vile presiding over an attendance of 32 members. The Wellington District Pig Council recommended the appointment of tho same judges as last year, Messrs C. Harris and E. P. Nielsen and Dr. C. P. McMeekan, for the annual baco.ner competition, and this was approved. A letter was received from Mr 31. A. Eliott saying that, because ho believed that some members allowed their personal feelings to over-weigh their consideration lor tho association, he had lost interest in tho association and his work as treasurer was no longer a pleasure. He would therefore not offer nimself for election as treasurer again.—Tho president said that appreciation of Mr Eliott’s services had been expressed at llie annual meeting.

Mr J. E. Hewitt wrote stating that he wished to withdraw his resignation, and lie congratulated the association on tho firm stand it had taken in the recent difference of opinion. Eight new members and one life member were elected, and 77 resignations were received, it being explained that these were duo to members leaving the district or through sickness. A large number were also on active service. It was decided that members on active sendee be kept on the books as honorary members. Four retiring members of the finance committee, Messrs J. Linklater, J. A. Russell, H. Voss and L. B. Wall were re-elected, and Mr E. A. Sliand was added to the committee. The following additional officers were appointed: Vice-president-, Mr E. W. Barnett; committee, Messrs AY. S. Fell, E. S. I-Jaydon; special members of general committee, Messrs, H. B. Stuckey (Dannevirke), Harold J. Lancaster (Levin), A. O. Cadwallader (Greytown). AY. I). Carson (Wanganui). J. AVebb (Taihape) and R. Marshall (Afarton). Mr J. J. Stevenson was appointed a special member for educational purposes. Messrs Goultcr and T. A. Duncan were thanked for donations. The president thanked members for his election and. referring to the coming year, appealed for tho support of all members and of the public.
