INDIGNITIES SUFFERED.
BRITISH LEGATION STAFF. LONDON, April 15. Members of the British diplomatic staff have arrived in Brussels from Denmark. They disclosed that the Germans invading Denmark flagrantly ignored diplomatic usage. They broke into the British Legation at Copenhagen and seized the British Minister (Sir Howard Smith) and his entire staff, who were herded into two open brewers’ drays in which they were rushed to Kastell to prison. The Legation secretary (Mr F. Everington Smith), who protested, claiming diplomatic immunity, was seized and handcuffed. A Legation official interviewed by . the Daily Mail’s Hague correspondent, said: “We looked for all the world like aristocrats carted in tumbrils to tho guillotine.”
