GERMAN VERSION.
CLAIM OF CRUISER SINKING. Received April 17. 11 a.m. BERLIN, April 10. A High Command communique claims that ’planes bombed and sank a British cruiser off the Norwegian coast yesterday. A Sunderland flyingboat was destroyed in the same action. The High Command states that enemy attacks in the sector cast of the Moselle and between the Palatinate front and the Rhine were repulsed with heavy losses, Two British ’planes were shot down when they attacked Stavanger. The day was quiet around Trondheim and Bergen. “Pacification of South-East Norway is progressing steadily. Our air force lias continued its activities over the North Sea and as far as Narvik. A British ’plane trying to penetrate the Heligoland Bight was shot down, and another forced down west of Skagerrak One German ’plane failed to return.” BRITISH DENIAL. (British Official Wireless.) Received April 17, 1.1.35 a.m. RUGBY, April 16. The .»ir Ministry announces that a German High Command communique falsely alleges that five British aircraft were shot down in attacks on Stavanger and that a Sunderland Hying boat was destroyed. No aircraft were lost in any of yesterda. ’s attacks on Stavanger and no flying-boat is missing. Two British aircraft that were engaged on a reconnaissance over the North Sea yesterday have not returned.
