FIGHTING IN WEST.
NAZI ATTACK REPULSED. Received April 17, 11.10 a.ni. LONDON, April 16. A French official communique slates: “On part of the front held by the British the enemy launched an attack prepared and accompanied by artillery lire. This attack was repulsed, and tho enemv suffered serious losses. In the Saar our artillery fired on enemy organisations. The activity of our reconnaissance units continues to the east of the Vosges.” The Berlin News Agency says the Germans threw back enemy reconnaissance patrols and shock troops. In an attack on an advance post an enemy officer and eleven men were killed, and many were taken prisoner. Two Germans were wounded. Brussels reports that a French ’plane crashed near Luxembourg after a battle with a German machine. The British Official Wireless announces that a party of airmen are due to arrive in London to night from Australia to reinforce Hie Royal Australian Air Force squadron which is serving with the R.A.F. Coastal Command. '
