CANADIANS AND FRENCH.

PARTICIPATION ANNOUNCED. LONDON, April 16. The keenest interest is still concentrated on the Narvik landings, it is announced that a number of Canadian and French troops arc included in the British Expeditionary Force. A Paris correspondent says it is thought when the full story is revealed it will bo seen the French share will prove as glorious as that of the Allies. The Petit Parisian’s headline reads: “Now Allied forces disembark at several points.” German troops transported by train arc attacking Heggc, but the Norwegians have felled trees and blocked tho roads. A German Official News Agency despatch from Kristiansand (on the Skagerrak coast) states that one German battalion compelled the surrender of 150 Norwegian officers and 2000 men. The agency also claimed the capture of a Norwegian torpedo-boat which tho Germans are now using. The speed with which tho llritisli forces acted and the way in which the Army and Navy combined has created a profound impression everywhere. It seems to have confounded the Germans, who are trying to persuade Norway and Denmark and their own people that Narvik is still in German hands. No indication can be given of the number of places occupied by the British in Norway nor where they are. Apart from Narvik, the only official news shows that the German forces arc still at Bergen and Stavanger and are having a pretty hot time. Five air raids have been made on Stavanger in the past few days. Most of to-day's air and naval activities were carried out in most unfavourable weather.
