UNTRUE REPRESTATIONS
SYDNEY MAN IMPRISONED. SYDNEY, April 16. As a sequel to protracted litigation with the Taxation Department. Theodore Charles Trautwein, aged 72, an hotel proprietor and a prominent racing identity, was to-day sentenced to one year’s imprisonment on a charge of making untrue representations concerning ail agreement with the Federal Taxation Department under which he was privileged to pay off his heavy indebtedness by comparatively small instalments. Trautwein had been originally prosecuted for seriously understating his income between 1921 and 1927, resulting in judgment being given against him in 1936 for £147,0(' n . Tile Taxation Department at that time estimated Unit he was liable for £162,836. The Stipendiary Magistrate to-day refused to suspend sentence, but notice of appeal was given.
