FIRE BOARD

CREDIT BALANCE SHOWN. The annual statement of the treasurer of the Fcilding Fire Board (Mr C. H. Tate) shows receipts for the year ended March 27, 1040, at £”79 12s 6d, and payments, at £640 9s. A credit balance of £l-5 was brought forward at the beginning of the year and, after allowing for accounts to be paid (0109 15s 7d), tlie board lias a credit balance of £44 lls 6d. Mr 0. C. Sporle, superintendent, in his annual report, makes reference to the light fire loss for the year. The brigade answered 19 calls and the value of buildings in which fires occurred is given at £0600; value of contents £2900; insurance on buildings, £1200; insurance on contents, £1650. The present brigade roll stands tit 17 men and two officers, of which number two firemen arc on military service. Active members recommended by the superintendent are Messrs A. Sporle and C. Painter. Fireman W. Tricklebank, who lias left the district, lias resigned. The plant is stated to be in good order.
