STRATFORD LINE.
LIMITED SERVICE. Per Press-Association. , WELLINGTON, April 16. An announcement respecting the resumption of traffic on the StratfordOkaliukitra line, which was extensively damaged by the February floods and washouts, was made to-day by the Minister of Railways (Hon. D. G. Sullivan). Provided tho weather, remains favourable, the department expects to 1)0 able to operate a restricted goods service between Stratford and Taumarunui each way daily between early morning and forenoon hours, beginning on April 29. The daily running of the through daylight passenger service between the same stations will be possible, it is hoped, towards tlie end of May, with the likelihood a few weeks later of ail increase in tlie number of trains. Mr Sullivan added that, in view of the extensive nature of the damage to the line in February, it will not bo safe to run any through night trains for some considerable time, probably not until the winter is over.
