AIRMAN MISSING.
BELIEVED KILLED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 15. Cabled advice has been received that Flying Officer Kenneth John Allan Johnstone, son of Air J. L. Johnstone, of Alanurewa, is missing and believed killed after operations on Fridav with the R.A.F.. Flying-Officer Johnstone attended tho "Auckland Grammar School. Ho left New Zealand in August, 1937, with' one of the earliest detachments sent from the Dominion to the Royal Air Force. Having obtained his civil pilot’s license, he attended a school of navigation at Marston and on passing out was posted to the 106th Bomber Squadron as a navigator. At first he was stationed at Thoraby (Yorkshire) and at the outbreak of war he was transferred to Wellington (Lincolnshire). He was an enthusiastic musician and played in the Bohemian Orchestra while still a schoolboy. WANGANUI AIAN AIISSING. WANGANUI, April 15. Pilot-Officer A. G. W. Mercwether, of the ll.A.l'\, whoso parents, Air and Ali-s E. W. Alerewether, reside in Wanganui, is reported by cable to have been missing since yesterday. Pilot-Officer Alerewether, who is an old pupil of Wanganui Collegiate School, joined the Royal Air Force in December, 1932. Recently he had been flying a 'Vickers AVellington bomber. He is aged 25.
