BUSINESS GIRLS’ CLUB.

ANNEAL MEETING. The 1 tth annual meeting of the Business Gills’ Club was held last evening, Mrs W. T. Royal (a vice-president) being in tho chair owing to the unavoidable absence of tbo president (Mrs M. H. Oram). Sympathy with Mrs Oram in the illness of her mother was expressed. The annual report (already published) was presented by Miss D. Newth (secretary). The financial statement, presented by Miss M. Anderson, disclosed a loss on the year’s working. Members attending club teas were unanimous in stating their enjoyment of these gatherings, and greater support was advocated. The club room was not serving tho purpose for which it had been opened, and membership bad fallen through marriage and departures. Ways of reducing expenses were considered. Officers elected are :- —Patroness, Mrs A. E. Mansford; president, Mrs M. H. Oram ; vice-presidents, Mesdanies W. T. Royal, E. J. Nathan, Day, M. Aitchison, W. Riddet, A. Cooksley, E. L. Christian, Millington, Misses Young and M. Grant; assistant secretary, Miss J. Ladyman; treasurer, Miss M. Anderson; committee, Misses G. Bates, N. Erenstrom, C. Boddy, V. Royal, D. Newth’ and A. Kcrslake. Regret was expressed that Miss Newth could not see her way to continue as secretary, and this appointment was held over for a fortnight. It was reported that members had decided to make the Maori Battalion the special care of the club in so far as any war work was concerned, and, after consultation with Lieutenant-Colonel G. Dittmer and the Mayor, it had been decided to send parcels to one hundred of the men as often as possible. Tbe colonel expressed his pleasure by letter and promised to send a list of articles to be included in the parcels. It was decided not to hold the annual dance this year. Misses B. Williams, J. Findlay, and M. Hickin were welcomed as new members.
