TENNIS INCIDENT
PLAYER CENSURED. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 15. Tlie conduct of A. D. Brown in the final of the mixed doubles at the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association’s Easter tournament was considered at a meeting of the management committee this evening. It was decided to write to Brown censuring his conduct. A letter of apology from Brown was discussed for some time in committee and the following motion was passed and reported in open meeting: “That his letter be received and his apology accepted, and that lie be informed that tlie committee takes a serious view of his behaviour, and that any repetition of such conduct will not bo countenanced. As a leading player the committee looks to him to sot ail example to younger players.” The question first came before the committee on April 1, when, after n letter from the umpire controlling the match had been read and a discussion had been held in committee, the committee decided to ask Brown to comment on statements concerning his conduct.
