Formerly on the dispensing staff of the Christchurch Hospital, Miss White is the only daughter of Mr V. White, manager of tho Christchurch Press. Mrs A. B. Smith, Dominion secretary,’ and Mr anil Mrs Stevenson (Wellington), Mrs David Crewe (l Jahiatua), Mrs Woodroofo (Cambridge) and Airs Bowe (Auckland) were visitors to “.Kamga Aloe” lor the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union garden party in aid of 1 lie rest home, on Saturday. Tho New Zealand “ace,” Flying-Offi-cer E. J. Kain, is affianced to Aliss Joyce Phillips, aged 23 years, an actress appearing in repertory at Peterborough. Miss Phillips, interviewed, declared -she was the most thrilled girl in the world. She would worry sometimes, hut she had the greatest confidence in Flying-Officer Kain. lie had as good a chance as the next. News was received recently from Flying-Officer Raymond Hannan that lie and three other New Zealanders had been the guests in the New A’ear of Lady Dudley, at her home in Sussex, England. It will he remembered that as Gertie Millar Lady Dudley was the original “Alary” in “Our Miss Gibbs.” Flying-Officer Hannan, who has been in England since last July, was a resident of Palmerston North and left to accept an R.A.F. commission in the Old Country.
