’Planes for Allies. Officials in Washington express the opinion that negotiations for the purchase of ’planes will conclude in a few days in a manner satisfactory to the Allies with the release of six to eight types of warplanes. Australian Strike. The striking fettlcrs on the Broken Hill railway have decided to return to work to-day. They have been idle for 89 days, during which time Broken Hill has been isolated from Sydney by rail. Medical Awards. Dr. F. F. Bundle, of Westminster, has won the Jacksonian Prize of the Royal College of Surgeons. The Diploma of Child Health was granted Dr. P. C. S. Unwin, of Otago University and Great Ormond Street.
