NAZIS DEFINITELY CHECKED
NORWEGIAN COUNTER-OFFENSIVE INVADERS CONSOLIDATE POSITIONS (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, April 12. The Nazi advance in South Norway appears to have been definitely checked, while the Norwegian counter-offensive seems to be developing satisfactorily. It is even succeeding in substantially pushing back the invaders in some important areas. The Norwegians are operating a comparatively loose front line from Moss, Kongsvinger and Eidsvold to n point south from Giovic. Concentrations are now assembling north-west and west of Oslo, where the Gormans claim they have reached Drammen. The Germans appear to be masters of the touns of Kristiansaiul, Stavanger and Narvik, and possibly Bergen. The German bombers bombed and dropped pamphlets oiei various towns behind the Norwegian front line in the south, but .there was little loss of life owing to tlic evacuation.
AERIAL ACTIVITY. 'Planes are also endeavouring to assist isolated parties of invaders, •particularly in the Elvcrum district, where the” Germans appear to have advanced too rapidly and are now forced to break up into bands of 30 and 40 men. fighting like guerrillas. For this reason reports concerning the exact position in this area are confused, but it seems the Norwegians generally have advanced to Eidsvold and established a line southward to the Glommcn River and then to Kongsvinger. . Fierce fighting is proceeding boiore Kongsvinger, to which the Germans are rushing reinforcements from Oslo.
