CLERGYMAN’S APPEAL.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 12. An appeal, by way of rehearing, of the cast brought hv Rev. Ormond Edward Burton, aged 47. was heard in the Supreme Court to-day before the Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers) against his conviction in the Magistrate’s Court of wilfully obstructing a police officer. The charge arose from an incident at a meeting of the Christian Pacifist Society at a reserve in the city on March 29 and the Magistrate imposed a sentence of three months’ hard labour. Appellant conducted his own appeal to-day and the hearing is proceeding.
