LATE MR G. N. STEPHENSON.

HOROWHENUA COUNCIL’S RESPECT. Mention was made at the monthly meeting of the Horowlienua County Council, yesterday of the death of Mr G. N. (Stephenson, of Ng.ita Street. Palmerston North. The chairman (Cr. ,G. A. Monk) said the council had lost one of its former valuable members. The late Mr Stephenson was a member of the council when the chairman first joined it in 1911, and he had been on the 'council for several years previous to that date. He was chairman on two occasions. “The late Mr Stephenson was a man of a quiet disposition,” said Cr. Monk, “and always did his best for those he represented. I was grateful to him for the assistance he gave me when I first became a member of the council.” Those present stood in silence as a mark of respect to the late Mr Stephenson.
