The Pahiatuii sewing circle of the Red Cross Society has forwarded a number of articles to headquarters, including 136 hospital bags, 84 face cloths, 23 Irav cloths, 36 balaclavas, 18 sponge hags, 13 bed feeders, 12 towels, and a number of scarves, pairs of socks, pair of gloves, pullovers, pairs of mittens and old linen. I Mr G. Cotter presided at a meeting of ! the Mangatainoka Young Farmers’ Club. I Mr 11. Bairstow reported that the MnngaI tainoka Domain Board had granted a see- | lion on the Domain for the proposed Cenl tennial tree-planting. A report on the dis- ! Irict council’s meeting held in Dannef virke was given by Mr J. Holden,, district secretary who also gave a scries of lantern slide lectures on ‘‘The Gyrotillcr,” I “The Salt of the Earth,” “Life of Plants,” and “Rust.” Mrs Ryan presided at a meeting of (he Methodist Ladies’ Guild. The guild was thanked for its helpful services in connection with the recent successful harvest festival and Centennial sale. Mrs Ryan read an address by John Wesley on the duties , of rnen and women to the Church.
