Miss J. Cook is a Palmerston North visitor to 'Wellington, Mrs W. L. Fitzhcrbert, of Broadway Avenue, is spending the week-end with her son, Mr W. E. Fitzherbert, of Wellington. Mr H. Collinson and MUs Hazel Collinson, of North Street, are in Gisborne to attend the Kemp-Bruce wedding. Mrs A. G. Gerrand, wife of Squad-ron-Leader Gerrand, has returned to Ghakea, after a visit to her mother, Mrs J. Landels, of Hastings. A London cable announces the death of Mrs Patrick Campbell, the wellknown British actress, aged 54. Visitors to Wellington include Mr and Mrs G. Greer, Mrs J. Kannard, Mr J. Lynch, the Misses Lynch, Mr and Mrs C. Page, and Miss 11. Page, of Palmerston North. Mesdamcs F. S. Bamson, Clark, C. Cater, J. Brown, A. Burrell, who are indisposed, were accorded the sympathy and good wishes of members of St. Peter’s Mothers’ Union at' their meeting, yesterday. The friends of Mi's D. Fleming, who had to undergo . a serious operation several weeks ago, will be pleased to learn that she has recovered sufficiently to enable her to return to her home in Dahlia Street, Palmerston North. Miss Noeline M. Knight, senior tutor sister at Wellington Hospital, has been appointed matron of New Plymouth Hospital, a position that will become vacant at the end of July by the retirement on superannuation of Miss B. A. Campbell, who lias resigned after 40 years’ association with tlie hospital. An interesting educational visit to Wellington has been made by 48 members of the Inglewood junior branch of the W.D.F.U. The whole tour was conducted on an educational basis, the girls having exercise hooks in which to take down notes of exhibits in every court at the Exhibition. Visits were also made to the Museum and Art Gallery. to view the Coronation picture, to the carillon tower and to inspect Parliament House, where they were entertained at morning tea by the Prime Minister and Mrs Fraser.
