AUSTRALIANS NOT QUOTED.

WELLINGTON SHARE MARKET. A remarkable feature of yesterday’s list on the Wellington Stock Exchange was tile entire absence of quotations of Australian shares, which is unprecedented. This is, doubtless, the market’s reaction to the announcement by the Minister of Finance in regard to the Finance Emergency Regulations, which “prohibit all transactions which involve taking or sending without permission money or securities from New Zealand, or buying or selling for a consideration given in iNow Zealand arty money, security, or other property held or paj’able abroad.” The suspension of quotations of and dealings in the shares of Australian bank, financial and industrial issues, robbed the market of much of its interest. Attention was devoted mainly to Government loans, most of the listed issues being quoted at firm rates, with little or no response from holders. .The yield on most Government loans at present prices is around £3 12s 6d per cent. The only inquiry in the hank section was for New Zealand ordinaries at 41s lOd, and the D mortgage issue at 28s, Gas shares were a shade belter, Christchurch at 265, and Wellington ordinaries at 335. Insurance issues were fully firm. Goar Meat were stronger at 14s 7d. There was a steady demand for other leading New Zealand industrial issues. YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS.
