SCOUT NOTES

“THE GANG SHOW.” (By' “Rama.”) Last week I told you a little about “The Gang Show,” the famous London all-Scout revue, and of the job some of the cast were doing in France entertaining front-line troops. I have since received a letter from an Essex Scooter, now serving with His Majesty’s Forces, who was present at one of the concerts. It reads: “No doubt you will be interested to hear how Ralph Reader’s sho\v went over here. I came over here soon after the outbreak of war, and this battalion has had a particularly dirty time with no amusements at all and official intimation of no leave until April. I heard with surprise that Ralph was running a show at and though only six men per company were allowed to go (many miles back from our position) I was able to get special leave to go. The show' was late in starting owing to delay on the Monday, gales, etc., but my delight was great when the curtain .went back and I saw familiar faces- from the ‘Gang Show.’ I . never saw officers or men laugh so much in my life and they (the ‘Gang’) all had a tremendous ovation during the show and at the end. it was the finest tonic 1 have had since coming overseas, and to judge what the ordinary Tommy thought I will quote from one of the letters which I have just censored: ‘The finest concert I have seen in my life.’ Tins to a friend in England. These shows will he welcomed wherever they go, and those in them are doing a job of service which is of intense value to the forces out here. It was my first link with the Scout Movement out here and needless to say I was very proud of my connection.” TROOP JOTTINGS.
