OBITUARY.

CARDINAL VERDIER. LONDON, April 9. The death lias occurred of the Archbishop of Parts, Cardinal Verdicr. He recently undervC-enb an operation. Cardinal Jean Verdicr .was born in 1864 and became a priest in 1887. In 1929 he was appointed Vicar-General of Paris, and since then has also been GeneralSupervisor of St. Sulpice Congregation, Apostolic Protonotary and Archbishop of Paris. In December, 1929, he became Cardinal Priest and a member of the Sacred College. He was Chancellor of the Institute Catholique of Paris.
