FACTORY MANAGERS.

INCREASED WAGES SOUGHT. Per Press Associatoin. WELLINGTON, April 11. Increases in wages were claimed by the managers of butter and cheese factories in the North Island in award claims before the Arbitration Court- today. For butter factories the claim was for £312 a year for under 100 tonj>, increased by 7s a ton from 100 to 300 tons, 5s from 301 to 600 tons, 3s from 601 to 1600. tons Is from 1601 to 2000 tons, and 3d from 2001 to 3000 tons. The claim for cheese factories was £252 for under 40 tons, increased by 11s a ton from 40 to 600 tons 3s from to 1600 tons, Is from 1601 to 2000 tons, and 3d from 2001 to 3000 tons. The increases were opposed on the grounds that managers were paid in proportion to other factory workers and that any increase would reduce the reward factory supplies received for their labour, which reward it stated was not as great as that of factory managers. After hearing evidence, the Court reserved its decision.
