SURPRISE COUNTER-MOVE. GERMANS ISOLATED. Received April 12. 1.15 p.m. STOCKHOLM, April 11. M. Hambro confirms that the Norwegians have stopped the German advance eastward of Narvik by a surprise counter-attack. The local Norwegian commander at Narvik (Colonel Sundlo) has been arrested because he made unauthorised contact with the invaders. The commander of the north Norwegian forces has been instructed to communicate with the British commander at the earliest moment. The Germans at Elverum have been thrown back at all points and isolated by the blowing up of bridges behind them. Five thousand Germans landed at Bergen, but the Norwegians yesterday baited the invaders’ march to the interior. The Norwegian Government has moved from Elverum to Nybergsund, which is fifteen miles from the Swedish border. The Norwegian Government lias ordered the Chief-of-Police at Oslo to arrest the members of the puppet Government.
