“GREATEST OF ALL TIME.” LARGE FORCES ENGAGED. COPENHAGEN, April 11. According to the Politiken, the Allied ships have penetrated the Kattegat and a new naval engagement was raging at dawn near the north-east coast of Jutland. 'l’lie Rome radio says the British Navy is about to force a wedge between Denmark and Norway. The Stockholm radio reports that the greatest sea battle of all time has been raging since last night over a long lino with 150 Allied and 100 German warships, 800 Allied and 1000 German ’planes. The battle became fiercer at dawn. Heavy gunfire shook the Swedish coast towns at the east end of the Skagerrak from 2 a.in., while searchlights continually swept the skies. Observers at Marstrand saw ten German warships, of which one sank, three others are believed to have been sunk, one was ablaze and one escaped northward. Another, severely damaged, fled to Swedish waters and was escorted to port by a Swedish warship. Two arrived at Marstrand with troops. Numerous dead are floating along the coast. Observers at Lysekil saw a vessel of unknown nationality sink with the loss of all hands. FORT HOLDING OUT. The fort of Bolaere.n, - at the east side of the entrance to Oslo Fiord, is reported to be still holding out and inflicting heavy damage on German transports. By mid-morning the Swedish coast was quiet, the battle having moved westward. Ten German warships, ten transports and an unknown number of British warships are reported to be engaged in this area. The transports were dispersed. ’Planes are also participating. The German radio’s claim that the destroyer Tartu was sunk in the North Sea is officially denied'in London. A Stockholm message states that Germany has 6ent 3000 masons to Denmark and Norway to build “Gibraltars” commanding the Skagerrak and Kattegat.
