APPEAL FAILS.

SENTENCE ON PACIFIST. WELLINGTON April 12. “He is honest and courageous in this matter, but obtuse to the feelings of others, and he persisted in a course that amounted to obstruction of the police in the execution of their duty,” said Mr Justice Johnston in dismissing the appeal of Halford Graham Lyttle, electrician, aged 30, against his conviction by Mr J. L. Stout, S.M.. for obstructing a constable. In the Magistrate’s Court, "Wellington, Mr Stout sentenced Lyttle to three months’ imprisonment, and Lyttle obtained a rehearing in the Supreme Court. His Honour said the sentence was the only .appropriate one that could be imposed in the circumstances.
