HOROWHENUA SHOW

SECOND DAY’S AWARDS. Excellent weather again favoured the Horowhenua A. and P. Association for the concluding day of its annual show and a record attendance was treated to a splendid day’s entertainment. The horse events were well contested and the Highland dancing competitions proved a popular innovation. The judge of the light horse events (Mr S. R. Hammond, Marton) said that the winner of the open jumping event, Mr T. L. Mansell’s Glendowie, was outstanding, the remaining entries being only fair. The fifteen entries in the pony grooming class were, he added, a particularly fine lot. Mr H. E. Hoeken (Feilding), who judged the draughts, remarked that while the entries were smaller than usual the quality was distinctly better. The pair of plough horses was equal to any he had seen in a show ring. Additional results are as follow: DRAUGHT HORSES. (Judge: Mr H. E. Hoeken, Feilding.)
