HOSPITAL BOARD

SPECIAL REPORTS CONSIDERED. FURTHER STEPS PLANNED. At the special meeting of the Palmerston North Hospital Board, held yesterday, there was a full attendance, with Mr J. A. Nash in the chair, and proceedings were taken in committee. The board considered a commentary prepared by the managing-secretary regarding modern hospital developments generally, and more particularly as they affected the programme of extensions contemplated by the Palmerston North Hospital Board. Reports prepared by the medical superintendent and the matron on hospital building matters were also considered by the board. •At the conclusion of the discussion it was resolved that Mr J. Hodgens, M.P., and the managing-secretary wait on the Director-General of Health with a view to a joint committee being set up consisting, if possible, of the Director-General of Health (Dr. M. H. Watt), the Inspector-General of Hospitals (Dr. R. A. Shore), Miss M. Lambie, Director of the Division of Nursing, and Mr G. S. Reid, architect to the Health Department, together with the managing-secretary, medical superintendent, matron and architect of the Palmerston North Hospital. This committee will be asked to consider the reports which were before yesterday’s meeting and to submit a report with their recommendations to the board for consideration.
