REMISSION OF LOANS.

HAWKE’S BAY DEPUTATION. Per Press Association. NAPIER, Jan. 31. Representatives of ‘ Hawke’s Bay local bodies met' the Alinister of Finance (Hon. AV. Nash) in conference to-day, seeking remission of the earthquake rehabilitation loans advanced following the disaster of 1931. Replying to a civic welcome Air Nash said he felt that such disasters were of a national character and not merely [for the suffering communities alone. The Government would weigh carefully the facts presented before deciding on its action. The outstanding loans aggregate £147,416 hut the Napier borough debt of £IOI,OOO is already cancelled.
