MANAWATU CHAMPIONSHIPS. MEN’S DOUBLES DECIDED. The championship matches of the Manawatu Lawn Tennis Association have almost been completed, only the men’s handicap and championship remaining to be decided. Last week considerable progress was secured, Boddy and Chisholm winning the men’s doubles title after beating McMurray and Hobin in the final. Details of games played during the week are as follow: MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES. Third round. —C. Sheerin beat R. Gloyn, 4—-6, 6 —3, 6 —3; V. Hobin beat J. Christie, 6—2, 6—4. Fourth round.—Dr. It. Chisholm beat Sheerin, Q—S. I—6, G —2; D. B. Livingstone beat W. Gloyn, 6—3, 6—4; W. Boddy beat J. Cope, 7—5, 6—3; Hobin beat D. McMurray, 6 —2, 6 —3. Semi-finals. —Livingstone beat Boddy 6—3. 6—3. MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP DOUBLES Third round. —Boddy and Chisholm beat Hill and Sheerin, 4—6, 6 —2, 6—2. Semi-finals.—Boddv and Chisholm heat Tapp and Russ, G—2. 6—2; McMurray and Hobin beat Spragge and Cope, 6—3, 11 —9. Final. —Boddy and Chisholm beat McMurrav and Hobin. 6 —2. 6—4. MEN’S HANDICAP SINGLES. Fourth round. —AV. Gloyn ( lo) beat A. Bovis ( 3-6), 9 —4. AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. MISS M. f*EVERT,EY’S DISTINCTION. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND. Jan. 29. The winning of five titles by Miss Margaret Beverley. Matamnta, was the outstanding feature of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association’s annual championship tournament, which was concluded to-day. Miss Bevel-lev’s successes were gained in the senior women’s singles, the -senior combined doubles, the intermediate girls’ singles, the girls’ doubles and the combined doubles.
